ORAL HISTORY VIETNAM VETERAN Witness to War Interview with Colonel James H. Benson

Colonel James H. Benson RMA Alumni, Parents, and Friends: A year ago, I was approached by a Rotarian after a speech to the Gainesville Rotary Club entitled "Recollections of an Infantryman in Viet Nam." He asked if I would be willing to be interviewed by an employee of a non-profit company called Witness to War - Preserve, Honor, Educate. I agreed, and Mr. Martin Madert came to our quarters with fairly elaborate equipment, and I realized quickly that this was a video and not just an audio interview. This is the reason I am in ACUs and a green t-shirt in the video. Mr. Madert had sent me a list of questions before he came so that I could reflect on how I might respond. When he arrived, he said that he had videoed many oral histories of World War II, Korea, and Viet Nam and that the segment would be two hours.
